Gurdas Maan - Vilatyan Review The legend Gurdas Maan returns with his album named Vilayatan. This is another timeless 8-track release from the Moviebox label.
Opening track Vilayatan Ho Gayee Ve proves that the album is guaranteed to be a hit, one that can be danced and sung along to. Lyrics are entertaining and the song has a very humorous and slapstick aspect to it. This song is 5 minutes of Gurdas Mann doing what he does best, pure desi bhangra that is extremely enjoyable!
Babe Bhangra Pounde Ne may sound like a song that is a party tune, but there is a very important under-lying message in the song itself. There is a message of encouragement and guidance to the youth of today, to stay clear from damaging and harmful ways of living. Punjabiyaan Di Balle Balle is potential dance-floor filler at any party or family celebration; it commemorates and rejoices the Punjab and its culture.
The album covers the spectrum of all types of Punjabi songs from tracks to dance to, to party songs, to songs to drive to, to songs to chill out to, to love songs, which brings us to the astounding tracks named Ishq Di Maari and Bas Rehan De Chhed Na. One of the most popular tracks off the album and has plenty of play on Radio and Television. The highly emotional lyrics make this song a ‘tear-jerker’ I cant say enough about this song, you just have to listen to it to realise how emotionally fuelled it really is.
All songs are written by Gurdas Maan himself and Bekadraan Naal Pyaar proves that he is still an amazing Punjabi music artist and his talents are unrivalled. The album ends on a thankful and slight religious perspective, with Sarbans Daaniyaan Ve, which aims to acknowledge the strife of deceased leaders.
Vilayatan is a definite runner for album of the year. If you’re a fan of classical, traditional and pure bhangra then this is an album you have to listen to. If you enjoyed his previous albums Heer and Punjeri then this album is one you will love. Gurdas Mann is truly a very valuable asset for the Bhangra industry. 9.5/10
