Bhangra is one of the most significant traditions of the Punjabi culture. Bhangra symbolizes the imagination, talent, potential, and charisma of the people of Punjab. It is a folk dance that originated in the state of Punjab, India. Historically, bhangra was a dance that celebrated the ever-important harvest time and illustrated the sowing of seeds, hoeing, cutting of wheat, and the selling of crops. This folk dance has been popular within the villages of the Gujranwalla, Gujrat, Shekhpura, Sialkot and Gurdaspur districts of Punjab. Bhangra is a dance of enthusiasm and gaiety. Bhangra Nation's philosophy is to enhance the knowledge of bhangra and promote the concepts, history, and symbolic representation of this folk dance. Since its creation in 1997, Bhangra Nation has established a foundation for bhangra and giddha teams around the world to express their skills, talents, and charisma. Bhangra Nation is comprised of individuals from many ethnic backgrounds who have the initiative to promote and to create the awareness of bhangra around the world. The name "Bhangra Nation" symbolises the unification of all nations to create a world-wide awareness of bhangra. In keeping with this goal, Bhangra Nation is proud to announce the Grand Opening of our very own Bhangra Studio! We would like to invite you and your organization as honorary guests to the opening taking place on April 15th at 1:30 PM.
