Each song has been re-mastered and tuned into the digital age of today and the songs have been kept in their original state for all to enjoy and the new skool to discover. This is no remix but a collection of club classics.
“This is a compilation I have thought long and hard about and with the Summer of 07 finally here , we hope this release will help create the Bhangra Muffin vibe the 30 something’s grew up with- Explains legendary dj and label boss, Mick St Clair.
Mick St Clairs' Now Thats What I Call Bhangra is not just for the 30 something’s, who have been emailing Mick St Clair to recover their old collection of albums, which are now scratched by time. The compilation was put together by Mick St Clair who conducted a survey with his team of young deejays from the MSC Roadshow who play out at venues across the UK.
Saint Records were set up by Mick St Clair after years as a Roadshow deejay and was based at his successful studios and rehearsal space in Smethwick, West Midlands. From idea to production to release all in the same building. The first release by Saint Records was the innovative Dhol Blasters which united the UK Bhangra industry, which was then followed by the single Bhangra Muffin, which marked the evolution of Bhangra which was fused with street sounds of the U.K. and launched the voice of Dippa Dosanjh and the band Satrang .Saint Records took a break from releases eight years ago to take stock of internet piracy and survey the Desi beats emerging from bedroom producers. The label has since risen from the past glories and unveiled new talent in its last two releases - 'cheena' (Mar 07) and 'loud and proud' (Nov 06) which are performing well on the dancefloors across Europe.
The issues relating to Piracy in the Industry and the Internet downloads are an issue with every album release and Mick St Clair hopes that this release will encourage people to buy back into the record labels with an informed compilation of tracks.
Mick St Clair’s Now That’s What I Call Bhangra includes vocals from old skool heads Sardara Gill (Apna Group) and Roop Samrai (Nachda Sansaar). The impressive Dippa Satrang who is a heavy vocal is featured with three tracks including his signature tune from Bhangra Muffin : Dhola Veh Dhola and a great cover of the classic Challa. Surinder Shinda features with a track from the album Kickin Klassix, and is one of the most requested emails and texts that Saint Records receive.
