Surjit Bindrakhia April 15, 1962 – November 17, 2003 is widely believed to have been one of the best Punjabi Bhangra singer in history. He is known for his hekh, in which he sings a note continuously in one breath. He has been included in the Guinness Book for that record. Bindrakhia is also known for the great bolis (lyrics) of many of his songs. His hits include Dupatta Tera Satrang Da, Bas Kar Bas Kar, Hit Geetan Da Guldasta, Tera Yaar Bolda, Lak Tunoo Tunoo and Jatt Di Pasand. Surjit is considered to have the greatest voice in bhangra history. Surjit Bindrakhia was a professional Bhangra dancer before he entered the field commercial singing. He died of heart attack on November 17, 2003 in his home in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Ji Nagar (Mohali), Punjab. A tragic moment for all punjabi people.
